Trying to keep up that spring training momentum. And it's summer so let's get out of the city!
I dreamed up this route - I've done parts of it, and have not done other parts of it.
Route includes a number of (gravel) rail-trails, on-road biking, countryside, limestone caves, multiple scenic bridges, a few cute towns, and one big uphill climb toward Ellenville - should be beautiful.
Please note: this ride will likely take up the entire day. We will be sure to stop for food a few times along the way, etc.

I think this ride appeals to a very different audience than the other one that day. It sounds like a great excursion and it's really beautiful up there.

Sounds like a great ride! I have the same question as Jonathan about the gravel sections, I'm a little concerned about my tire size (25mm).

Glad you guys are interested! Here's a photo of the first rail trail - maybe that will help you decide. I'm good with keeping to roads, though. There are roads that run parallel to all of the trails.

Hey! Yes sounds good. I will probably try to get there even a few minutes earlier just to be safe.
For everyone's awareness, there is an app that you can buy Metro North tickets on now, so that will save you 2 min if you download ahead of time. Otherwise, the ticketing area that is sort of northwest of the information booth is usually half as busy as the one nearest the subway - FYI.
