61 miles (or 75 or 12-23, 43 🚆)
Saturday, May 11, 2024
This week we start on the absolutely fabulous High Bridge. We'll ride up through the Bronx and Eastern Yonkers to Bronxville where we'll get on the Bronx River Trail (🎥). We'll ride though Scarsdale and White Plains on our way north. We'll stop for lunch or a light snack in Valhalla near the base of the Kensico Dam.
Afterwards, we climb to the top of the Kensico Dam, for the fantastic views before heading back south.
Starting in Purchase, we skirt the edges between a lot of well-known Westchester towns – Rye Brook, Scarsdale, White Plains and Eastchester (to name a few). Once we get to Bronxville, we will head west to the South County Trailway which will bring us all the way through Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx. Finally, we'll ride bake into Manhattan and down the Hudson Greenway to end at Pier 84 at 44th street

Hey guys~
Would anyone know when it would be good for me ,from Jersey , to park for this ride? I'm not familiar with the city and I have no idea as to where this is.. do we end at the start after also? Grateful for any advice.

Hi Stephen - I'm glad you're able to join this weekend. The entrance to the start of the ride is at 165th St & Edgecombe Ave. We will end the ride going down the west side greenway. Probably your best bet would be street parking in between those two spots.

Thanks Chris! .
Lol.. and where would Between that be? Lol . TOTALLY unfamiliar with streets is this Manhattan? Is there a sign that says Greenway? If you have some street location and east or west, I could maybe look for a parking garage.. sorry to be a pain.

It might be easier to park where you normally do when you start at Strictly and then ride over the GWB to the start point. Then you can break off the ride at the end when you are close to the bridge to get back to your car. It will save you the hassle of driving into Manhattan and finding parking.

@ Peter E~
That's sounds like the best idea !! Is the start somewhat near the bridge? Asking so I know how to gage my time to start ..😊
Thanks again 😍. Stephen

The start is about 3.6 miles from Strictly. It's on the east side of Manhattan.

Unfortunately, I can't be there this week. You'll be in Christopher's very capable hands.

You could also park in Kingsbridge near VCP, then you would be right there at the end.

Thanks JR~
Good suggestion ! However I'm such a neophyte with New York I don't know what vcp is or where..lol . I'm just going to stick to going over the bridge and meeting you guys.. most likely I'll go to the end with everybody hang for a bit and then ride back for a little extra mileage ☺️
