We'll meet in downtown Manhattan and take the Hudson Greenway up to Inwood. We'll head into the Bronx via the University Heights Bridge. After some urban riding, we'll find some quiter streets and greenways as we make our way to Pelham Bay, City Island, and Orchard Beach. It can be hard to believe that City Island is part of NYC and not some Maryland shore town. The seafood by the water will leave you guessing. Note: most places are cash only. On the way out, we'll ride by the Orchard Beach and see its historic bathhouse. This was once called "the Riviera of NY."
We will explore some of the Bronx's new cycleways as we head down the Hutchinson Park Greenway, through some more Bronx parks, and over to Randalls Island. We'll take the RFK bridge into Astoria, down through Queens into Brooklyn and over the Williamsburg Bridge and finally end up in Thomkins Square Park in the East Village

I really hate to have to do this, especially since the weather looks nice, but I gotta cancel. Riding 50 miles tomorrow when I'm out of work with a cold today is probably not a good idea...

hi, I saw it's a seafood placec, should a vegetarian plan on bringing some food or is this like a big area where there are multiple places to eat? Thx

I'm sorry about the narrow menu at Johnny's Reef. There are a number of bodegas and restaurants/sandwich shops up along City Island Avenue (the main road). We can talk about it in the morning.

I checked menus at a few places and the island is fairly meat-heavy. I think the bodegas should have something, but I am afraid to commit to that. There is a C-Town supermarket on the island.
