Hey friends,
Second OC bakery bike tour coming up! I'm organizing a ride through diverse variety of North Jersey bakeries. Our last tour of Queens was very fun and I'm hoping to recreate something similar here.
Idea is to split treats. Beyond the sweets, we'll get to see the Great Falls of Paterson and ride along to views of the Manhattan skyline in the hilly college town of Montclair. The way this is planned, the first three stops are relatively clustered (each are about 5 miles apart), and then we'll ride ~18 miles to the fourth, and then ~25 miles to the final stop, which I think we'll all appreciate after all those sweets.
Money:
Plan to have actual cash on you! You know how small businesses can be about credit cards.
Details:
Duration: Like 5-6 hours?
Difficulty: Moderate (note: there are NJ Transit stations along the way, if you want a shorter ride)
Start: J. Hood Wright Park in upper Manhattan
Finish: Newark (PATH station)
Stops:
1. Englewood, NJ - Dulce De Leche Bakery (Argentinian)
2. Fort Lee, NJ - SunMerry Bakery & Cafe (Asian fusion)
3. Fairview, NJ - Krause’s Chocolates (...chocolate!)
4. Paterson, NJ - Sultan Artisan Bakery (Turkish)
5. Newark, NJ - Teixeira's Bakery (Portuguese)
Ride home:
I'll be planning to take the PATH train from Newark back to lower Manhattan (ride is ~25 minutes) at the end, but you can drop off earlier if you'd like, or ride back over the GW Bridge adding a few extra miles, or do whatever makes the most sense for you.

I'm sitting here RSVP'ing in a Dulce De Leche Bakery with a coffee and choco chip cookie!! Delicious!! I'll likely drop off after Krause’s Chocolates due to a flight to SA that evening. Can't wait.

I'm sending my RSVP with a caviat. I'll be on call the night before and don't get off until 7am. If I'm up for a ride, I'll park at my friend's in Englewood and join at the first stop.
