This is a self guided bike tour of the Hudson Valley - OutCycling will plan the routes, provide the lunches, and move the gear - you just ride!
Tour Itinerary:
Thursday night: Bag Drop (Chelsea Location) - Drop an overnight bag or backpack with us and we will transport it for you to both motels on the tour and get it back to you for the train ride home.
Friday: The tour begins on a 9:45am train out of Grand Central for the approximately 90 min ride up to Beacon NY. From there, cycle approximately 15 miles up the Hudson River to the Walkway over the Hudson. Once on the other side it's a flat car-free ride into the town of New Paltz. ROUTE MAP HERE
Check-in at the motel before we regroup for a late afternoon excursion into Minnewaska State Park to visit the Awosting Falls.
Happy Hour and dinner back in the town of New Paltz.
Saturday - After a hearty breakfast at the motel we ride in-land up the Hudson Valley to the Ashokan Reservoir - a very scenic ride on back roads with lots of Hudson Valley farm vistas. ROUTE MAP HERE
Lunch is around the Reservoir with the Catskill Mountains in the distance for our back-drop. From there we ride into the town of Kingston, NY - NY State's original capital city. Happy hour around the indoor pool is hosted by OutCycling then dinner is on your own to explore the vibrant restaurant scene in Kingston. See Kingston guide here.
Sunday - After a late breakfast at the motel, we reverse the route back to the walkway over the Hudson and the Poughkeepsie metron north train station where we will meet up with our baggage for the the train ride home. ROUTE MAP HERE

Will anyone meet us at the train station to take a small backpack to the motel Friday, or do we need to carry everything with us on the ride?

Regarding Bag Transport - No, You do not need to ride with your bag.
The plan is to have a Bag Drop Happy Hour Thur night in Chelsea. This will give everyone a chance to drop bags and meet fellow riders. Please see details here and RSVP: https://www.outcycling.org/rides/399.
If you can not make the bag drop happy hour, there will be an alternate bag drop either at Grand Central Terminal or the Beacon Train station - TBD. Final details to come Wednesday next week in the ride mail.

Since I live in Westchester, I will meet everyone tomorrow at the Beacon train station when your train is due to arrive (11:22 am).
Sorry I cannot make the happy hour tonight. I will carry my pack on my bike.

As mentioned we will leave for the excursion right after guys are back from bike repair. Likely 4:30 and 5pm latest.
If anyone is not making the excursion we can rendezvous in town at Huckleberry likely around 7pm
New Paltz taxi does $5.00 local rides around town.
