I can't join for the entire trip, but I can ride with you all for a bit if you come through Hudson, where I live.

Hiya - looks like a great trip! Two questions:
1. Are we riding with backpacks, or will there be a support car taking bags up to the hotel?
2. Is it OK if I come for just one night (making my way back on the Saturday)? I have to work on the Monday.
Thanks!

Hi Kurt W.- absolutely we would like to ride with an upstate local! Could you possible suggest a route for us to use if we are able to do a Kingston to Hudson round trip day? Or any help you could provide on routes in the area would be greatly appreciated. thanks! gw

Hi Sharif - Absolutely it is OK to come for 1 night. We can investigate options to get back on Sunday for anyone who needs to.
And yes we will have bag transport, still working out details though. Will schedule a zoom call for early next week with all those who have RSVP'ed to discuss all logistics for the trip. Hope you can make it! /gw

@Graham Is this a trail or road cycling weekend?

Hi Bob - Mostly road but there is great trail riding up there (if you have the right bike for it). Which are you looking for?

I've taken my bike down to ride around the Woodstock area a few times, but I have yet to ride to/from Kingston & Hudson on my bike. I'd say the best route from Kingston is across the Rhinebeck Bridge and either up route 9G or 9 to Hudson. Maybe up 9G to Hudson and then down 9 heading back to the Rhinebeck Bridge? Alternatively, from Hudson you could cross over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge and ride down 9W back to Kingston on the west side of the river. Personally, I think that 9 & 9G on the east side of the river are more scenic than 9W on the west side is.

@Graham Would it be be more or less rough than the Croton Aqueduct Trail that we rode back in May 2019?
I did the Aqueduct Trail on my 28mm last time with you and it felt great. It can probably handle traills a bit rougher still and feel good.
If you want to explore trails that are of similar roughness, I may consider bringing my 28mm bike to the weekend. If we are going to stay mainly on the road (and some/minimall trails), I'm leaning towards bringing my 24mm instead.
(Those are the only 2 bikes I have.)

@Graham: Can a non-OutCycling member join us? (I see bag-check rates for non-members.)
Graham W.
October 5, 2020
Hi Bob - yes, most everyone will be on road bikes so 24mm would probably be best for this trip. And as far as non members go - we're happy to have them as longs as they are experienced cyclists. please have them sign up here: https://www.outcycling.org/rides/294 - includes bag transport and a first night happy hour at the BW in Kingston.
