The gay-owned-and-operated Boston to Provincetown Ride celebrates its 35th iteration in 2019; though it clocks in at 127 miles in a single day, the five rest stops and abundant camaraderie make it worth the trip. The Provincetown International Film Festival is in town that weekend, wrapping up Cape Cod’s Gay Pride week, so even if your ride isn't particularly competitive, finding a room will be. In Boston, 40 Berkeley, the hostel around the corner from the start, is closed for renovation; the queer-friendly Chandler Inn across the street has tiny rooms at inflated prices but the location, location, location is right. At our destination the Seaglass Inn in the far West End will take one-night reservations and there are lots more options if you want to stay in P'town for a few nights! If you're driving, drop the car in P'town, take the ferry back to Boston and your vehicle will be waiting when you finish. Really fast riders might make the 4 p.m. tea dance at the Boatslip. But riders who want to swap tales of the ride and chow down afterwards head to Napi’s on Freeman Street for an 8 p.m. dinner, and your $ 70 ride registration (www.outriders.org/) includes a ticket to brunch at the Provincetown Inn the morning after the ride.
