Ride postponed to Sunday! Saturday looks very wet.
This week we start on the absolutely fabulous High Bridge. We'll ride up through the Bronx and Eastern Yonkers to Bronxville where we'll get on the Bronx River Trail (🎥) – or residential surface streets for folks who don't like curvy trails. We can stop for lunch or a light snack in Valhalla at the base of the Kensico Dam. We can hold of for more fuel meal later on the route.
From there we climb to the top of the Kensico Dam, then head north to the Whippoorwill Club and then over to Armonk. From there we will loop near Bedford before heading back south.
Starting in Purchase, we skirt the edges between a lot of well-known Westchester towns – Rye Brook, Scarsdale, White Plains and Eastchester (to name a few). Once we get to Bronxville, we will head west to the South County Trailway which will bring us all the way through Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx. Finally, we'll ride bake into Manhattan and down the Hudson Greenway to end at Pier 84 at 44th street

Shorter Variants of This Ride
🚆There are several train stations along the early part of the route, including Scarsdale at ~21 and Valhalla at ~23 miles.
The route can be shortened to 75 miles (3,365 ft of climbing) with a shortcut at mile 36. This shortcut reconnects with the main route after about 5 miles.
It can be shortened even more by heading back towards Purchase after Valhalla. This route is 61 miles (2,516 ft of climbing) all the way back to midtown Manhattan. It can be shortened even further using many options for train (🚆 43 miles at Bronxville) and subway returns once you are in Van Cortlandt Park.
