I'm assuming the night in Fishkill is Saturday. Does that mean that the shorter version of this ride involve taking Metro North part way to Fishkill both on the way up on Saturday and the way back on Sunday?
Graham W.
March 8, 2022
Hi Alexander - Yes, exactly. On Saturday morning the shorter ride will begin at Grand Central Terminal and train to the Tarrytown stop. Cycling will be from Tarrrytown to Fishkill (app. 35 mi.)
On Sunday the shorter ride will train from Beacon, NY (closest stop to Fishkill) and train to Tarrytown. Cyclist will cross the Cuomo Bridge and join the 1 Day Pride Riders into the Finish Line in Manhattan (app. 40 miles).
This will allow shorter riders to see the full route to Fishkill. Route Map coming shortly. Hope you can make it!

Hello fellow Pride Riders! After too many months of not being on my bike, I was finally able to get in a much-needed workout the past two weekends. I live near Van Cortlandt Park & so I headed over to the northbound start of the Empire/South County Bike Trail & got a sneak peak of the June Pride Ride.
Most of the trail -- that I traversed -- has been recently resurfaced and so it was literally smooth sailing. Any negative comments you may have read online about the trail certainly don't apply to the 12-mile stretch between Van Cortlandt Park and Elmsford. Lots of other cyclists (including some wobbly kids just learning!), joggers, skaters and walkers -- both with and without dogs.
Just north of Yonkers there is a stretch that has been decorated with several whimsical birdhouses -- as well as wooden replicas of fine feathered friends.
Along the way there are no comfort stations although there is plenty of vegetation to provide privacy for anyone needing to relieve themselves!

(continued!) The ride I took was 25-miles roundtrip, Yonkers to Elmsford, and I completed it in exactly two hours without stopping. I repeated the ride on Sunday/Mother's Day. My time was about the same although there was a stronger head wind than the first time I rode this stretch of the course. I also went a bit further once I got into Elmsford but I could not find where the trail resumed once the dedicated path that began in Van Cortlandt Park and ended in downtown Elmsford.
Weather permitting, I plan on repeating the ride next weekend plus adding another 20-miles +/- (roundtrip) stretch. If anyone cares to join me please drop me a line at robs@robseitz.com.

Are most people staying at Best Western? Anyone staying at any of the neighboring hotels?

Hey guys, turns out I won't be able to do the overnight event, but I will be able to do the Pride Ride itself.

Pride Ride Course Update - I'm working hard to be ready for the overnight Pride Ride. I hit the trail we will be taking again this morning and went from Van Cortlandt Park to just past Yorktown Heights. RT it's abiut 60 miles +/-. Despite today's high temperature, the trail was very comfortable. For the most part, the trail is covered in shade. So if anyone is worried that we might have broiling hot days on June 18th and 19th, I thought you might like to know that there is plenty of shade to keep us "cool" riders plenty cool! Still looking for someone to train with from Van Cortlandt Park to points north.

Good Evening - Anyone interested in joinng me for a training ride from Van Cortlandt Park, The Bronx, to as far as we feel to pedal, tomorrow (Sunday, June 5)? Sorry for the short notice but if you were planning on training on Sunday, anyway, I would love to have a cycling partner. Please drop me a line at robs@robseitz.com.

The delay in routes is my fault. I was cheerfully making edits and changing stuff in what I thought was my own copy of the route but turns out was the original route. I just sent copies of most of the original route to Graham sent I completely destroyed the original route he diliigently put together.

No worries Kevin - I too had major issues with RIdewGPS this morning and lost a bunch of work!
But I do have a map for DAY 1 riders doing the full route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39763281
Note start location for 60 mile riders is now Van Cortlandt Park at 242 st where the #1 train lets you out.
45 mile riders will start cycling from the Tarrytown train station and join this route.
I will send detailed information for both starts in the logistics email on Monday.
But for now, hope this helps. Have a good weekend all.
