Common Questions

  • Yes! OutCycling is an LGBTQ+ cycling club open to everyone. Our mission is to create a welcoming, and inclusive space where LGBTQ+ cyclists of all levels — and their allies — can ride, train, and build lasting friendships. We are launching our new ride scheduling app soon! Please sign up for our mailing list to be the first to know how to join!

  • No problem! We offer an Introduction to Road Biking Series that covers the basics of group riding, hand signals, hydration, nutrition, proper kit (clothing), helmets, and clip- in shoes.

In both the Spring and Fall, we offer a progressive series that allows riders to build their confidence with longer distance riding.

For returning riders (who might be just a tad rusty) we also offer weekly lap sessions in both Central and Prospect Park in the Spring, Summer and Fall. They are a great way for riders to build their fitness and confidence on the bike.

  • Our rides are color-tiered 🟢🟡🔴

The tiers refer to the intensity of the ride, factoring in things like the distance and elevation profile of the ride.

This keeps everyone safe and comfortable, and helps you know what to expect.

We recommend members who are new to cycling start in the 🟢 tier. As you build endurance and experience level, you can move up.

Want to change your tiers? Just email our Ride Director at: george@outcycling.org
