One of the tricks of winter riding is to use geography to make the best of a difficult situation. The cliffs above River Road (Henry Hudson Drive) in Palisades Park are pretty good at offering relief from winds when they're from the west or northwest.
The forecast on Sunday is temps in the high 30s with 5-7mph winds from the NNW and NW. Those winds aren't all that strong but every little bit helps.
We'll meet in Central Harlem. I strongly recommend you NOT ride up the westside greenway – that will get the brunt of the winds (and it's closed from ~100 to 125). We'll ride up St Nick, cross the bidge and then ride River Road. Crossing the bridge will be the worst part since we'll be exposed to the winds.
We'll then ride the length of River Road, up to Kearney House. Faster riders are encouraged to pull ahead and climb the hill up to the "Cop Shop" and then regroup with everyone else at Kerney House.
