I've decided to change up the Memorial Day ride so more people can participate. Let's do the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail instead of the Pawling / Wassaic ride. I just did the OCA last weekend, but it's one of my favorite places to ride, so I'm totally up for doing it again.
There are two route options. Both are 47 miles in length (to/from Harlem) with the option to go a shorter distance if you take a train back at one of the many MetroNorth (or subway) stations along the route.
Option 1: Take the 8:20 MetroNorth to Chappaqua, ride up to the Croton Reservoir, and then ride down the entire length of the OCA.

Option 2: Don't take any trains, ride up the Old Putnam Trail (South County Trail) to Tarrytown and then ride down the OCA from that point.

The advantage of option 1 is that there's more gravel – you get to ride the entire OCA. The advantage of option 2 (for people with skinny tires) is that there's less gravel. Both options cover my favorite parts of the trail – going through people's back yards in Tarrytown and going past the Lyndhurst Mansion.
The disadvantage of option 1 is more mud puddles (one of which is quite big) and one section of the trail where you have to haul your bike up a steep (but short hill) and then manage to get down the hill on the other side (which is trickier than going up).
The disadvantage of option 2 is less gravel, and a bigger percentage of the gravel is the "ugly" section of the trail in Yonkers.

We will be riding as a loose group with everyone going roughly the same spped. The pace for this ride is "15-16 mph" on flat pavement, slower on gravel and hills.
[Minimum tire size for this ride is 28mm (tubeless w/ lowered pressure). 32mm or greater is strongly recommended.]
