Piermont Baby !! - Meet 8:30 am sharp @ 23rd st and the bike path or app. 9 am at 125th st roundabout. Ride a fast 50 (give or take) to Piermont and back. Staying topside on 9W on the way up and depending on the group energy consider doing the hills in Palisade Park on the way back. Back by noon or as close to it as reasonable. Ride with us. All welcome.
Bike Marshalling the Brooklyn Half Marathon - The day kicked off to an early start with a 6:30am start time in NYC and 7 am in Prospect Park. The crew were all brand new bike marshalls and after getting checked in and practically no orientation - we were off. Leading over 11,000 runners! The course spanned 2 laps of the park and down Ocean Pkwy to Coney Island. In a word the park was HECTIC but the wide expanse on Ocean Pkwy (closed to cars) well made up for it, and we breezed down the highway to the beach. Once there we watched the finishers, took some sun and of course got indigestion on NATHANS! All in all a good day. Thanks to the crew who toughed out the early start time time to be there. To all else - sign-up to be a Bike Marshal and get a chance to ride the entire NYC marathon course on race day right in front of the runners. Next event - Aug. 16th, ask me for details.
Montauk Century - Over beers in Montauk one thing was unanimous - the day was wetter than the wettest wet dream ever. After getting poured on for the first few hours of the day, a 'special' deal was done and the outcycling crew arrived in Montauk safe, sound and ready for the hottest shower the shower truck could handle. And it did not disappoint! Food was just OK, support sucked, but as usual we took it all in stride and had some laughs along the way. Thanks to all those who came out and a WELCOME to Toby and Jeremey it was good meeting you guys, hope to see more of you in the near future. see ride photos here
