The Fearless Flyers - An OutCycling team for young adults ages 16-21
OUR GOAL: To build self-confidence, leadership and cycling skills in young adults.
Fearless Flyers is a spring cycling program designed for bike riders of all fitness levels. Each member will be provided with a bike and equipment, safety and skills workshops and Saturday morning training rides to prepare for the NYC Pride Ride.
Hello my name is Diany Disla and I am one of the first Fearless Flyer Ride Lead for The OutCylcing Youth division team. I first heard about this opportunity back in 2014 through The Center’s cycle for the Cause. I have been working with The Youth Center for 6 years as a youth leader and now have a position with the Lesbian Cancer Initiative as the Peer Program Community Outreach specialist.
I recently got hired to be the youth coordinator for the OutCycling team, being the point person to communicate what is being decided for the future of this team. I have been looking for something like this my whole life where family, commitment and collaboration are important factors, and building an inclusive sport related space with like minded individuals. It’s important for opportunities like these to arise for young adults, especially for those who identify as LGBTQ.
My dream is to live in a better, healthier and supportive world, where family, support and fun are a priority. I believe that cycling is one of the many innovative ways of implementing healthy living to people all over the world, all ages, size, color and culture and initially bringing people together.
Cycling is something I’ve always love doing and is something I can never see myself NOT doing ! I love love love this opportunity, this process, this journey this is something so unique and close to home to me. I want to bring everyone and everything together to make a better, healthier and more loving world. I hope you can find it in your hearts to continue to support this cause and team. Thank you for reading !
